I HAVE A PROBLEM

We are an International Tongue
-In-Cheek Support Association for anyone with a passion for Corvettes.

Our Mission is
  • to Have Fun by actively supporting anyone's passion for Corvettes
  • to assist them in any way we can with Their Problem, and
  • to further assist those less fortunate in life's circumstances through our donation of Contributions and Proceeds from retail sales to selected Charities.

Everyone has a story to share.  So whether you are now or once were a Corvette owner ~ Someone who has a love for Corvettes and a passion to one day own one or several ~ Or even if you are someone who is content to appreciate them from afar,
Corvettes Anonymous is here to help you better understand this wonderful "State Of Mind".

Frequently Asked Questions

How did Corvettes Anonymous Come About?

Several people have asked this question.  Actually the idea and philosophy had been jelling for quite some time.  There is a small cadre of Founding Members who thoroughly enjoy sharing time and stories together.

Our Problem was that some of us were members of different clubs while others preferred a more unstructured approach to their hobby.

The common link is that we wanted to be able to enjoy each others company without the rivalry that sometimes exists between competing clubs.

We began taking impromptu cruises and outings to various "mixed" car shows
The name Corvettes Anonymous came like a bolt of lightning during the September 2006 Corvettes In Venice show, sponsored by Venice Florida Corvettes.

After the dinner party, several Show Goers were sitting around spinning yarns about the Corvettes they once owned, have now, wish they owned, and of course, the ones that got away.

Because that evening was the first time many of them had met, someone remarked that while the next day’s show was going to be spectacular, that evening’s party had gone a long way to let folks meet one another.

When everyone agreed, someone else suggested that it would be really cool to belong to a Corvette Association, walk into a restaurant far from home and find a total stranger wearing something designating that he or she was also a member.

What a way to break the ice!

A few minutes later one of the group, who had previously been known only through the internet stood up and said:

“Hello. My name is Pedro, and I have a problem!”

There was a huge round of laughter, but in the blink of an eye, Corvettes Anonymous was born.

Since that September evening in 2006 and from that dozen or so group of strangers and friends, Corvettes Anonymous has rapidly grown to having NEARLY 600 members scattered across 40 states, + Canada, UK, Germany, France, Puerto Rico, Australia, and New Zealand  ... And, It's All About The Joke!!

Addictions of any kind are a serious matter.  By your name, aren't you taking that a bit lightly?

Each member of Corvettes Anonymous is acutely aware of that issue.  It is never our intent to take any debilitating addiction lightly or in jest.

We also believe that whether one's hobby is collecting stamps, model railroading or in this case Corvettes, there is a positive side ~ which is the joy and camaraderie to be shared with others.

It is that part of "The Problem" to which Corvettes Anonymous is referring and wants to promote.

So what’s it really all about?

Corvettes Anonymous is first and foremost about having fun and about being able to poke fun at ourselves and each other.  For the majority of members it is ~ and should be ~ about the “Tug On The Leg” more so than “The Tug On The Heart”.

It is about wearing a shirt or cap or carrying a coffee mug or briefcase and seeing the reaction on someone else’s face the first time they see the logo and ....  “Get It”!

That is especially gratifying when the other person doesn’t even own a Corvette!

In rolling out the concept however, we have learned that for several of our members, Corvettes Anonymous is an extension of their own giving.

With that thought in mind, the Founding Chapter supports the RCS Food Bank in Clearwater, FL and the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association program for Respite Care Services.

Why these two Charities?

Selection is based on a charity's Function and the Percentage of money or other assistance that actually gets to those who need it.

Simply put, when a bag of beans or jar of baby food is donated to RCS,  a child gets to eat!

When money is donated and earmarked for Respite Care, FGCCAA sees to it that 100% goes to assist a Caregiver who desperately needs relief.

Respite Care is not available in all Alzheimer's markets.  However if you make a donation through Corvettes Anonymous and desire it to go to your local market, we will see that it does so and copy you on the correspondence.

How are your contributions distributed?

100% of all donations to Corvettes Anonymous plus nearly 50% of profits from our retail sales is directed to RCS and Respite Care Services.

The balance is used to promote the Corvettes Anonymous concept and to purchase new inventory.

With the exception of Alzheimer's program for Respite Services, we do not donate cash.

Instead, we donate our time through both on-site physical assistance and through activities designed to raise money bring greater awareness.  Steak-Out is our premiere event to help both charities.

To put that into perspective, on July 18, 2007 Corvettes Anonymous hosted our first Steak-Out on behalf of behalf of SunCoast Corvette Association of Largo FL.

The event brought together members of the three oldest Corvette Clubs in the Tampa Bay area in addition to several local members of Corvettes Anonymous ~ many of whom are also members of these fine clubs.

Since our birth in September '06

  •  our aggregate deliveries to RCS total over 8736 pounds of food and personal hygiene items
  • since September '07 we have been blessed to contribute $2800 to Respite Care Services.

See our Events page for Steak-Out '08  results and video.

Our goals for 2009 are to deliver at least another 4000 pounds of goods to RCS
and to a donate a minimum of $3000 to Respite Care Services!
